Terms of Service

The plain-English agreement for using Loonwise — what we are, what we aren't, and what we each promise.

Effective date: July 17, 2026 · Applies to loonwise.ca and all Loonwise tools

The short version

Loonwise is a free comparison service, not a lender, broker or insurer. Our numbers are carefully maintained but not offers; the professionals we connect you with make the actual offers. Be a human, don't scrape or abuse the site, and remember that final decisions about your money are yours.

1. Who we are, and what these terms cover

These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and Loonwise ("we", "us") covering your use of loonwise.ca, our calculators, comparison tools, alerts, and match services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you accept these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2. Loonwise is a comparison service

We compare financial products and connect you with licence-verified third-party lenders, brokers and insurers. We are not a bank, lender, mortgage brokerage, insurer or investment advisor, and nothing on the Service is financial, legal or tax advice. Rates and figures shown are indicative and can change or contain errors; the binding numbers are always the ones in the offer documents you receive from a provider. Confirm anything important directly with them before you sign.

3. Your responsibilities

4. Accounts, alerts and rewards

Some features (saved comparisons, renewal alerts, Loon Points) require an account. Keep your credentials to yourself and tell us about any unauthorized use. Loon Points and Loon Prepaid Cashback are subject to their own program terms; points have no cash value until redeemed and programs may change with notice. We may suspend accounts that abuse the Service.

5. Third-party providers

When you choose a lender, broker or insurer, your relationship for that product is with them, under their terms. We verify licences and regulatory standing at onboarding and follow up on your file as part of the Loonwise Assurance, but we aren't a party to your agreement with a provider and aren't responsible for their acts, omissions, rates or decisions.

6. How we're paid

The Service is free for you. Partners may pay us referral fees and for clearly-labelled placement, as described in How we make money. Compensation never changes how results rank.

7. Our content

The Loonwise name, Loo the loon, our logos, design, text and tools belong to us or our licensors. You may use the Service for its intended purpose; you may not republish or commercially exploit our content without permission. Third-party trademarks (bank and insurer names and logos) belong to their owners and appear for identification only.

8. What we don't promise

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We work hard on accuracy and uptime but can't guarantee either, and we make no warranty that any product shown is right for you or that you'll be approved for it. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Loonwise isn't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from use of the Service; where liability can't be excluded, it's limited to the amount you paid us to use the Service — which is zero. Some provinces don't allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

9. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we protect it. It's part of these terms.

10. Changes and termination

We may update the Service and these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new effective date, and continued use means acceptance. You can stop using the Service anytime, and ask us to delete your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Governing law & contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the province where you reside and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Questions: hello@loonwise.ca.
