Privacy Policy — Loonwise

The short version

We only collect what we need to match you with the lender, broker or insurer you choose — and, if you opt in, to remind you before your rate renews. We never sell your information. You can ask us to show, correct or delete it at any time.

1. Who we are

Loonwise ("we", "us") is a Canadian rate-comparison service. When you request a rate, a quote, or a match through our site, Loonwise is the organization collecting your information, and this policy explains how we handle it under Canada's federal privacy law (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial laws, including Quebec's Law 25.

2. What we collect

Contact details you type into a request form: name, email, phone number.
Request details: the product you're comparing (e.g. a mortgage rate, insurance quote), the options you entered (purchase price, down payment, renewal date, coverage details) and the lender, broker or insurer you chose.
Preferences stored on your device: language choice and sign-in state are kept in your own browser's storage — they never leave your device.

We don't ask for, and you should never send us, SIN numbers, account numbers or passwords.

3. Why we collect it

To send your request to the one lender, broker or insurer you selected, so they can contact you about it.
To follow up on your file as part of the Loonwise Assurance — checking that someone actually called you back and your application keeps moving.
If you opt in, to send you a renewal reminder before your current term ends.

4. Consent

We collect your information only when you submit a form, and each form has a consent checkbox that links here. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us — we'll stop contacting you and delete your details, subject to any records we must keep by law.

5. Who we share it with

The specific lender, broker or insurer you chose in your request — never a list of buyers, and never sold.
Service providers that run our forms, storage and email (for example, form-processing and database tools). They may store data outside Canada; where they do, it remains protected by contract and by the provider's safeguards.

6. How long we keep it

We keep lead details for as long as needed to complete your request and any follow-up you asked for, then delete them. If you set a renewal reminder, we keep the details needed for that reminder until it's sent or you cancel it.

7. Your rights

You can ask us, at any time, to: show you the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Email privacy@loonwise.ca and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (or the Commission d'accès à l'information in Quebec).

8. Cookies & analytics

Loonwise doesn't use advertising cookies or third-party trackers. Your browser's local storage holds only your language preference, a demo sign-in flag, and whether you dismissed our notice bar.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the effective date above before the change applies.
