Why we exist
Canadians renegotiate their phone plans, shop three sites for a flight, and haggle over a used couch — then accept the first mortgage renewal letter their bank mails them. Not because they're careless. Because the system is built to make comparing feel harder than it is: posted rates that nobody actually pays, fine print that changes the math, and "advisors" whose paycheque depends on what you pick.
Loonwise started with a simple conviction: comparing your money decisions should feel like comparing flights. One search. Real numbers, side by side. No pressure, no jargon, and no wondering whose side the website is on.
"Any site can show you a rate. We make sure it actually happens."
That second sentence is the part we're most stubborn about. A comparison that ends at a phone number isn't a service — it's a lead form. So when you choose a match through Loonwise, our team tracks the file. If an application stalls, a call never comes back, or a lender goes quiet, we step in, push it forward, and keep you posted until the rate is locked and the deal is done. We call it the Loonwise Assurance, and it's why people come back at renewal time.
Who's behind it
Loonwise is founder-owned and Canadian-operated — no bank owns a stake in us, and no lender gets to edit our rankings. Our mascot Loo (a common loon, Canada's most sensible bird) fronts a small team of comparison nerds, follow-up chasers and plain-English translators. The loon on the dollar gave the company its name; the "wise" part is the job description.
